Tverskaya to Red Square on January 1, 2015

Streets of Moscow -- a walk along Tverskaya Street on and almost to Red Square on the first day of the new 2015 year, in the evening.

Starting along Tverskaya Street which leads on to the Kremlin.


At the Central Post Office (with the screen), Red Square can already be seen in the distance.


What looks like a giant New Year Tree toy thronged by people, I don't find it very interesting.


Center is what used to be the Marxist History Museum.


Unfortunately the weather is nasty -- a major thaw, snow to slush everywhere, grey skies but it is warm for the season. 




If you walk along this way you get to the Red Square but we didn't -- large crowds.





A Kremlin wall corner tower -- they have names but I don't know what this one is called.





Another Kremlin tower seen over the Kremlin wall... this one still have a ruby star on.
